Thank you for your messages and emails regarding the big earthquake that happened in Kumamoto.
My hometown Kumamoto was hit by big earthquake - magnitude 7 - on April 15 and 16.
Kumamoto’s historical assets, such as Kumamoto castle or Aso shrine was partly ruined by this earthquake, and some big bridges and tunnels were also broken. We are awed by the menace of nature again.
41 people was killed and nearly one thousand people got injured so far. Electricity, water and gas are not supplied in some areas such as Kumamoto City, Mashiki and Minami-Aso. We have 2 nuclear plants in Kyushu area.
According to the government there was no impact to them, but we are still worried about the aftershocks.
Evacuation advisory issued last night in Oguni, my hometown, too. I stayed at the shelter with my family and an old lady living alone in my neighborhood.
However, me and my family are all fine, although we had a stone lantern in our garden and some shelves in our kitchen fallen down.
Tough times bring opportunity - now is the time we should practice this oriental philosophy. This is indeed “Yin turns to Yang”, I hope we can re-create the warm community or seek the way to the transformation to the natural energy.
Besides usual relief activities, we started the project to deliver organic and non-chemical brown rice cracker to the people who have food allergies living in the impacted area for free.
Please come and visit Kumamoto, Aso and Oguni area once everything is settled again. We TAO members are looking forward to seeing you..
